If you’re looking for a Manchester wedding venue with character, The Barn at Morleys Hall is one to check out. It’s got that rustic charm without feeling outdated, plenty of space to party, and the bonus of exclusive use-so no random golfers or hotel guests crashing your big day.
Tucked away in Astley, Greater Manchester, this 17th-century barn has been revamped into a wedding venue that actually works. It’s big enough for a proper celebration but still keeps that intimate, personal feel. Whether you’re planning a laid-back day or something a little more traditional, this place ticks a lot of boxes.
But what makes it stand out? And is it the right fit for your wedding?
A Real Wedding at The Barn at Morleys Hall
Lyndsey & Nigel chose The Barn at Morleys Hall for their twilight Manchester wedding venue, they knew they wanted a place that felt relaxed, exclusive, and made for a great celebration. With a mix of traditional charm and modern touches, this venue gave them the perfect backdrop for a wedding that was so much fun!
Morning Prep at The Marriott
Lyndsey started the day at The Marriott in Worsley, getting ready with family in a laid-back atmosphere. Between the final touches, a few pre-wedding nerves, and plenty of laughs, the morning flew by.

A Traditional Ceremony
The couple exchanged their vows at St Mary’s Church in Ellenbrook, a beautiful local church with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The ceremony was filled with emotion, as friends and family gathered to witness Lyndsey and Nigel’s union. The church’s timeless charm made it an ideal setting for such a meaningful moment.

Twilight Celebrations at The Barn
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside St Mary’s Church to congratulate the newlyweds before heading to The Barn at Morleys Hall.
As the winter sun began to set, we captured some magical moments of Lyndsey and Nigel outside the church and then The Barn At Morleys Hall surrounded by twinkling fairy lights. The soft glow added a touch of romance, making for truly enchanting photos that perfectly complemented the warm, intimate atmosphere of their special day.

Heartfelt Speeches
The scene was perfectly set for Lyndsey and Nigel’s twilight reception. Guests were treated to a mesmerising performance by Gospel Touch Choir, filling the barn with soulful melodies. The evening unfolded with heartfelt speeches from Lyndsey’s proud father, the groom Nigel, and his best man, and the bride herself, (more bride speeches please!) leaving everyone both moved and entertained. Sparklers were handed out to the guests as everyone braved the weather and made a sparkler tunnel for the new Mr & Mrs Underdown.

Evening Reception at The Barn At Morleys Hall
The Manytones wedding band took to the stage and kicked off an incredible party. After a memorable first dance, Lyndsey and Nigel’s little girl wowed everyone with her impressive performance, quickly drawing the crowd to the packed dance floor. The energy soared, especially with Ess Green, the mirror man, showing off some incredible moves only to be matched by an incredible singing performance from Lyndsey and Nigel’s nephew.
It was a night full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments, surrounded by a fantastic couple, their wonderful family, and friends. The dance floor was alive until the very last song!
