Colshaw Hall in Over Peover, Cheshire, provided the perfect backdrop for Lauren and Paul’s elegant wedding day. Surrounded by stunning countryside, this exclusive-use venue brought together guests from near and far to help this amazing couple celebrate in style!

A Guide to A Colshaw Hall Wedding

Colshaw Hall is one of Cheshire’s most popular wedding venues. Set within 300 acres of stunning countryside near Knutsford, this Grade II listed country estate provides the perfect backdrop for weddings.Colshaw Hall was built in 1903. It was meticulously restored by the Irlam family, who transformed it into a premium wedding venue.

The estate is surrounded by stunning grounds, a lake, and a Japanese garden, all of which provide endless opportunities for great photos.

Wedding Preparations at Colshaw Hall – Lauren & Paul

Lauren began her wedding morning in the main house at Colshaw Hall. The morning was filled with laughter, excitement, and those special moments that make the lead-up to the ceremony so memorable.

Paul and his groomsmen got ready in The Den, the perfect man-pad for the guys to get ready! The Den is equipped with a TV, table tennis, and table football to keep the lads entertained whilst getting ready.

One of the most emotional moments of the morning was when Lauren and Paul exchanged notes and gifts. As Lauren opened Paul’s letter and gift, the tears started to flow. This is the part when me as a photographer is crossing my fingers for tears and the makeup artist is willing her not to cry!

The Ceremony at Colshaw Hall

The ceremony took place in The Stables, a beautiful space within Colshaw Hall. One of the most touching moments was when a pre-recorded message from Lauren was played over the speakers just before she entered the room. Hearing Lauren’s voice filled with love and excitement brought Paul to tears, a really lovely touch from Lauren!

The light inside The Stables has been greatly enhanced by the recent addition of a large feature window, which floods the space with natural light, a photographers dream! This made for some stunning photographs during the ceremony, capturing every glance and emotion between Lauren and Paul.

The ceremony was filled with lovely vows, and support from their closest family and friends.

Outdoor Drinks Reception in the Walled Gardens

After the ceremony, Lauren and Paul’s guests gathered in the walled gardens for the drinks reception. The new bar was a popular spot, serving drinks as guests mingled and shared hugs and congratulations with the happy couple. The sun shone down, creating a warm atmosphere that was perfect for capturing natural moments.

A Stroll Around the Grounds

Following the drinks reception, I sneaked Lauren and Paul for a quick stroll around the beautiful grounds of Colshaw Hall. The newly-weds were just bouncing off each other which gave me the perfect opportunity to capture real moments between them both. No awkward posing or cheesy smiles!

Speeches and Dancing at Colshaw Hall

The wedding party made a lively entrance into the dining room, with guests swinging their napkins in the air to welcome Lauren and Paul into the room. After food, some great speeches followed, with Paul’s dad and two best men delivering touching and humorous words.

Paul then surprised everyone by pulling out a guitar—a skill he had secretly learned in the months leading up to the wedding. He performed a song he had written especially for the occasion, getting everyone singing and dancing along. It was a brilliant, unexpected moment that added a personal touch to the day.

After the speeches, Lauren and Paul returned to the garden to pour a champagne tower. They were definitely “drinking from the bottle” at this stage!

Evening Stroll Around Colshaw Hall

As the day drew on, Lauren and Paul took another walk around the stunning grounds of Colshaw Hall. The Golden Hour light created a beautiful atmosphere, perfect for capturing some final portraits before the evening party started.

Evening Reception

Lauren and Paul took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. Paddy Slater had everyone dancing to his music as they danced the night away with their guests! Brilliant wedding with such a lovely couple!
